House Of Peace

Aka La Iglesia Casa de Paz is located in the Palermo Sur neighborhood in southern Bogota, Colombia. The community is marginalized, with many people living well below the poverty line and earning income through informal employment such as selling trinkets at stoplights or coffee on street corners. The Colombian government’s response to the pandemic has mandated very strict orders for sheltering in place, meaning that the majority of the people in this low-socioeconomic area who already were struggling to make ends meet, have now been left completely unable to work for months. And unlike here in the US, Colombia does not have a robust safety net for families in crisis.

Led by dedicated, trustworthy pastors Mauricio Soto and his wife Dr. Tania Arenas, the Casa de Paz church continues to touch lives in the midst of these difficult circumstances. Mauricio and Tania have made use of social media to reach their local congregation with sermons and messages of hope, and this has also allowed for them to spread their ministry into other countries electronically - including multiple people here in our Rockford area who are considered part of the Casa de Paz family. Mauricio and Tania are seeking donations which will allow them to provide basic groceries to families in need. That is where you come in - proceeds from the sale of this shirt will be sent to Casa de Paz to allow them to keep assisting these at-risk families until they are once again able to leave their homes and earn a living on their own.
